Video download troubleshooting
Fix common video download problems: saved video has no sound, file won't play, Save button blocked, or link not working.
The downloaded video has no sound
Some sites (Reddit and YouTube at higher qualities, for example) keep picture and sound in separate streams. If VideoSaver lists an audio-only file (M4A) next to the video, the video file on its own may be silent. Try another quality in the list — lower qualities often have sound built in. Also check that the original video actually has sound.
The file won't play
- Try a different player such as VLC, which opens more formats.
- Some links point to protected or streaming playlists, not a normal MP4. These can open in a browser but may not save as a playable file.
- If the file size is 0 KB, the source link expired — paste the post link again.
"Save" is blocked — use "Open file"
Some sites block direct saving. Press Open file; the video opens in a new tab. On desktop, right-click it and choose Save video as. On iPhone, tap Share → Save to Files. On Android, use the browser's ⋮ menu → Download.
"Extraction failed" or "link not working"
- Make sure the link opens in a private browser window without logging in. If it needs a login, it can't be saved.
- Copy the full post URL, not a shortened share link.
- Deleted, expired or region-locked videos cannot be read.
- Wait a minute and try again — sites sometimes block requests for a short time.
